Buying Advice: Watches
For over 30
years, E.D. Marshall Jewelers has been buying and
selling fine watches. During that time we have purchased
and placed our clients with some of the most sought
after watches ever produced. Our knowledgeable staff
will help guide you with the purchase of your watch.
We have the largest watch selection in Arizona with
over 1000 time pieces to select from including new
and pre-owned world class watches. Purchasing a fine
new or pre-owned watch is an easy and enjoyable experience
when dealing with the knowledgeable staff at E.D.
Marshall Jewelers.
We are providing this information as a service to
our customers on what to think about before purchasing
a fine Swiss timepiece.
Before buying a fine watch today, it is essential
to decide on the following:
1. What features or complications
you want your watch to have or if you just want
it to tell time.
2. If a complication is desired,
what type of complication do you want?
Chronographs, Repeaters, Calendars (simple or
perpetual), tourbillions, power
reserve indicator, dual time zones, world timers,
etc..
3. What material do you want
it to be cased in? Faced with a myriad of options
ranging from stainless steel, 14 or 18 karat white,
pink, or yellow gold, platinum,
combinations of titanium, and all of the above,
the selection of materials
offered today is quite complex.
Another important
consideration one should confront when purchasing
a fine time piece is what will this watch be worth
down the line if you choose to sell or trade it in
the future. It has been our experience that when you
purchase something fine, be it a painting, carpet,
bronze figure, or piece of jewelry the value retention
tends to be commensurate with the quality and maker
of the piece. The same holds true for watches.
Buy good quality timepieces, made by manufacturers
with proven track records and the equity you expect
will be there if you choose to sell or trade. There
is an established aftermarket for fine watches just
as there is for works of art and liquidity is based
on quality.
Buying New
vs. Pre-Owned
A new
watch vs. pre-owned
watch purchase is a difficult decision for some, easy
for others. Some people, regardless of price considerations
will not purchase something that has been owned by
someone else. If that is your point of view, fine.
E.D. Marshall Jewelers can provide you with just about
any new watch made by any major watchmaker at an extremely
competitive price. If you do not mind the fact that
a watch had a previous owner and factor in that you
can save a considerable amount of money, then a pre-owned
watch should be for you.
As active buyers we acquire many fine watches by prestigious
makers such as Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Audemars
Piguet, Breguet, Vacheron Constantin, Piaget, Corum
just to name a few.
Each watch is meticulously cleaned both internally
and externally resulting in a watch that is close
to new in appearance and performance at a considerably
lower price. All of our pre-owned watches are accompanied
by a full one year warranty, just like a new one.
Regardless of your choice, new or pre-owned we are
committed to finding you the best value for your money
and making your watch purchase a memorable and pleasant
experience.
