Pearls
Since the beginning of time, pearls have
been revered as one of the most beautiful and magical gems on earth. From
a simple pearl bracelet to a multi-stranded choker necklace with diamond
clasps, to South-Sea pearl drop earrings, accented with diamonds; pearls
provide endless possibilities.
Pearls come in various types. The Akoya, White South Sea, South Sea Black (often referred to as Tahitian Black Pearls), Freshwater and Mabe. If you have an interest in purchasing a fine South Sea pearl necklace or jewelry made with fine South Sea pearls, you will be amazed at the selection available at E.D. Marshall Jewelers. Rare colors and hard to find pieces can be acquired at fantastic prices. If you have a pearl necklace that is dull or just in need of restringing, the pearl experts await you at E.D. Marshall Jewelers. When shopping or choosing pearls, it is helpful to understand the terminology used in evaluating pearls. Cultured pearls are evaluated using the following five factors. Luster: Luster is a combination of surface brilliance and a deep seated glow. In a good quality pearl the luster should be bright not dull. A pearl that appears too white, dull, or chalky, indicates low quality. Surface: The cleaner the surface
of the pearl, the more valuable it is. Cleanliness is dictated by the
absence of spots bumps or cracks on the pearl's surface Shape: The more perfectly round the pearl, the greater the value. Baroque pearls, which are asymmetrical in shape, can still have good luster and often cost less than round pearls. Color: Pearls come in a variety of colors from rosé to black, and all depend on the wearer's preference, and complexion. Pearls make the perfect gift for all occasions, and for all ages. There's no better gift to commemorate a birthday, anniversary or just simply to express your feelings. |
